The Democratic candidate for the US Presidency, Kamala Harris, does not directly accept crypto donations for her election campaign. This is done by the Future Forward PAC through Coinbase Commerce, which, however, supports her. At the moment, Harris has not yet taken a position on cryptocurrencies.

Kamala Harris and crypto donations: only through the Future Forward PAC

According to what reported, it seems that a spokesperson for Coinbase has confirmed that it is not Kamala Harris who accepts crypto donations, but the Future Forward PAC that supports her.

“Coinbase can confirm that the Future Forward PAC has joined Coinbase Commerce to accept donations in cryptocurrencies”

Contrary to what was previously stated, it is now confirmed that the Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the USA is not directly accepting crypto donations. However, the political action committee (PAC) that supports her, the Future Forward PAC, is doing so.

This confirms his still uncertain position on cryptocurrencies, unlike his rival, the Republican candidate Donald Trump who has declared himself pro-crypto.

In any case, even if Harris has not taken a position, her campaign staff has met with major cryptocurrency companies, including Coinbase and Ripple.

In a certain sense, this means that the approach of the democrats could prove to be softer towards the sector, and not exactly opposed.

Kamala Harris and crypto donations: the uncertain position of the candidate for the 2024 USA Presidential election

Although it is not Kamala Harris who directly accepts crypto donations, her position does not yet seem to be clearly against cryptocurrencies.

In any case, the Future Forward PAC that is doing it to support her seems to have raised hundreds of millions of dollars for Harris, in the United States elections on November 5, in which she will face the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Specifically, the Future Forward is a hybrid PAC, used for the first time by President Joe Biden, which can contribute directly to the campaign or pay for independent advertising not coordinated with the Harris camp

Unlike Harris, Trump has been directly collecting Bitcoin and crypto donations for his election campaign for some time.

I gemelli Winklevoss del crypto-exchange di Gemini stated that they donated a whopping 1 million dollars in BTC each to Trump. Also, Jesse Powell from Kraken did the same thing, although mostly in ETH.

Not only that, Trump has publicly declared himself as a pro-crypto President, especially after giving his speech at the Bitcoin Conference 2024, in Nashville.

The electoral forecasts on Polymarket

While exactly 2 months are left until the US presidential elections, on the prediction market Polymarket it seems that the favorite has returned to be Donald Trump.

At the moment, it seems that the bets on his win have risen to 53% against Harris’s 46%.

There have been some USA where, however, Harris still seems to be the favorite. Wisconsin and Michigan both seem to support Harris with a 56% probability that she might win.
