In the world of Web3, the layer-1 as well as the home of NBA Top Shot Flow has announced a series of new partners and node operators, including Google and Ubisoft.

He also announced an update, a rewards program, and a world tour.

Flow and Web3: Google and Ubisoft as new partners

Flow is a layer-1 known primarily for hosting the NBA Top Shot NFTs.

On the official website of NBT Top Shot, it is stated that Flow is a blockchain created by Dapper Labs to be efficient and easy to use for developers.

It is based on four main pillars: the multirole architecture, resource-oriented programming, developer ergonomics, and consumer onboarding.

Furthermore, thanks to an architecture that achieves high performance, it also allows mainstream uses without compromising decentralization.  To date, more than 40 million accounts have already made transactions on Flow.

It was designed from scratch as a platform for next-generation apps, games, and digital assets, with the goal of hosting the future of Web3 consumer experiences.

Among its users, besides NBA Top Shot, there are also Mattel and Ticketmaster.

In light of this, it is not surprising that they have managed to secure new partners as node validators, nor that these are brands of the caliber of Google and Ubisoft.

Now of the over 400 nodes of the Flow blockchain, some are managed by Google itself.

Ubisoft Entertainment is a well-known French multinational company involved in the development and publishing of online games, especially known for Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed. It is also listed on the Paris stock exchange with the ticker UBI.

The Crescendo update: here’s what it’s about

Even more important, however, could be the new update just announced, called Crescendo.

Crescendo is already active on the Flow mainnet, and it makes it compatible with the broader world of EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). This will enhance Flow’s multi-chain interoperability and improve the developers’ experience.

Now even EVM-only applications can run on Flow.

Therefore, as a result of the Crescendo update, Flow is now fully compatible with any smart contract written in the Solidity programming language for Ethereum or compatible networks.

The objective is to further lower the barrier to entry and open the doors to new developers and users.

The awards for the Flow community

Flow is also launching its Community Rewards.

These are prizes that will be awarded to help developers attract users, and to reward the participation of the users themselves in the Flow network.

The program will especially reward commitment on applications, so every game, exchange, marketplace, or DeFi protocol developed on Flow will offer users the possibility to get something in return.

The goal is always to become more and more mainstream, also because Flow has been designed from the beginning precisely for adoption by mainstream consumers. Flow Community Rewards should offer an additional reason for people to use Flow, rewarding them for the activities they are already engaged in.

The World Tour of Flow

Finally, Flow is also inviting developers to its World Tour.

The Flow World Tour will last for months, and it will consist of a series of virtual and physical hackathons. It will start as early as September and will last until the end of the year with live and virtual events in many cities.

The goal is to encourage the creation of the next killer app on Flow.

The comment

The co-creator and chief architect of Flow, Dieter Shirley, stated:

“The Flow ecosystem has always been about pushing the boundaries of what Web3 can be, like with NBA Top Shot or the nearly 14 million on-chain accounts of Ticketmaster. With the Crescendo upgrade, Flow has evolved into a more composable interoperable network, making it easy for EVM builders to build simply and directly on the network and allowing assets to travel seamlessly on Flow and any other EVM-compatible ecosystem. This upgrade provides developers building on Flow with more tools than ever to expand Flow applications in these sectors.

The cumulative effect of all these updates is a superior experience for both builders and users. The Flow ecosystem is ready to grow at an accelerated pace.
