Sony Electronics (Singapore) is the subsidiary responsible for the marketing and sales of Sony products in Singapore. It also manages the export activities of Sony products from Singapore to various parts of Asia.

Sony Group is the famous Japanese group that controls, among others, Sony Corporation, the subsidiary company responsible for the Entertainment, Technology & Services (ET&S) business. Its mission is to create the future of entertainment through the power of technology together with creators.

Sony has been present in Singapore since 1973, so Sony Electronics effectively represents the Japanese group in the small but important Southeast Asian state.

Sony: the partnership with Crypto.com

The announced partnership today with Crypto.com Pay specifically enables payments in USDC, the second most important stablecoin in the world pegged to the US dollar, exclusively on Sony Store Online.

Also Crypto.com is based in Singapore, so it is not surprising that this partnership was created specifically with Sony Electronics Singapore (SES).

SES is the first consumer electronics brand in Singapore to collaborate with Crypto.com for direct payments in criptovalute.

Initially, customers of the Sony Store Online will be able to pay in USDC, but SES plans to expand the service to other cryptocurrencies.

The goal is to diversify payment options to keep up with the shift to digital currencies, along with increased security. SES indeed aims to stay in step with technological evolutions and to make its operations “future-proof”.

The initiative of Sony Electronics and Crypto.com

To celebrate this launch, the Sony Store Online in Singapore has also decided to offer two promotions for Crypto.com users.

The first one states that the first 50 eligible users who spend at least 300 Singapore dollars on the Sony Store Online using Crypto.com Pay as the payment method will receive a free LinkBuds speaker.

The second provides that the first 150 eligible users who will spend at least 100 Singapore dollars on Sony Store Online using Crypto.com Pay as the payment method, will receive 20 USDC credited to their Crypto.com account.

With an expenditure of at least 300 Singapore dollars, customers will be able to receive both prizes, subject to availability.

The offer ends on April 30, 2025.

The crypto exchange Crypto.com

Crypto.com is a well-known crypto exchange. The company was founded in 2016, under a different name, and over the years it has grown to have more than 140 million customers worldwide.

Regarding the new partnership, the  general manager of the Singapore office of Crypto.com stated:

“We are pushing to make cryptocurrency payments more widespread, and the partnership with an established and forward-thinking brand like Sony Electronics Singapore further increases awareness of how simple it can be to pay for everyday goods and services using cryptocurrencies. This payment integration will not only benefit our users by offering them another way to use their cryptocurrencies in the real world, but we believe that the addition of a new and simplified cryptocurrency payment method will also expand SES’s customer base”.
