Bitpanda and its third MiCAR license in Europe
Bitpanda has announced that it has obtained its third MiCAR license in Europe, specifically from the Austrian FMA.
“Bitpanda is the first major operator to obtain the MiCAR license from the Austrian FMA. This is the third MiCAR license after those of Germany and Malta, another step forward towards creating the most regulated cryptocurrency platform in Europe.”
In practice, Bitpanda becomes the first company in Austria to be fully approved under the new EU regulation on cryptocurrencies.
This result comes after the crypto platform obtained the other two MiCAR licenses, exactly in Germany and Malta.
Bitpanda and the three MiCAR licenses: the goal is to become the leading crypto platform in Europe
Thanks to this third result, Bitpanda can continue with its mission to become the leading crypto platform in Europe.
In fact, investors can feel confident using a platform that has been examined, tested, and approved by regulatory authorities throughout the EU.
L’azienda afferma che per gli utenti, questo significa maggiore protezione, mentre per il settore crypto, significa standard più elevati.
According to Eric Demuth, CEO and co-founder of Bitpanda, this is a continuation of what the platform has always believed in: regulation. Here’s what he said:
“Even before MiCA, we were one of the most regulated cryptocurrency platforms in Europe, with over ten different licenses. Today we continue on this path and have been successfully reviewed by three different regulatory authorities in three countries. This underscores our clear and ongoing commitment to providing a safe and compliant environment for our clients and partners.”
The interview with Massimo Di Rosa for Italy
In mid-February, The Cryptonomist interviewed Massimo Di Rosa, Country Manager of Bitpanda for Italy, who had already spoken about the MiCA regulation and MiCAR licenses.
In fact, Di Rosa had specified that Bitpanda has a single license to operate as a crypto-exchange in 27 countries in the EU.
Not only that, the platform’s approach to regulation had previously allowed it to already possess 17 licenses.
Among others, Bitpanda has the PSD2 license for electronic money and the MiFID II license which had positioned it as one of the most reliable platforms in the sector.
The MiCAR license, continues Di Rosa, allows Bitpanda to offer the entire range of industry-leading products, with retail and institutional services throughout the EU.
Di Rosa then stated the 2025 goals for Bitpanda, the first of which is precisely to strengthen its position as a leader in the European market.
