The Republican candidate Donald Trump, a well-known supporter of crypto, participated in a two-hour interview with Elon Musk on the platform X, an event that sparked controversy and reflections.

Let’s see all the details below.

The meeting between giants ‘fans’ of crypto: an unfiltered confrontation between Donald Trump and Elon Musk

As mentioned, last Monday, the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took part in a two-hour interview with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on his social media platform, X.

The event, broadcast live, was characterized by technical problems that delayed the start by over 40 minutes. Musk, who has publicly supported Trump, attributed the delay to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

That is, an attack in which a server or a network is flooded with traffic with the intent of blocking its operation. However, this statement has not been verified and has raised doubts among observers.

Despite the setback, Trump tried to turn the situation to his advantage, congratulating Musk for the enormous influx of users who were trying to tune into the event.

At a certain point, a counter on X showed that up to 1.3 million people were following the long conversation.

Before the interview, Musk had stated his intention to conduct some scalability tests of the system, but the issues encountered during the event raised questions about the technical preparedness of X.

Despite the requests for more details or proof of the alleged cyber attack, X has not provided further information, leaving room for speculations.

The praises Trump-Musk and not only

During the interview, Trump and Musk exchanged repeated praises. We remember that the two are both supporters of crypto. In particular, Musk has often been responsible for the price swings of the famous memecoin Dogecoin.

Trump, on the other hand, places moderate trust in the most prestigious and historic crypto, Bitcoin.

Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla and among the richest people in the world, praised Trump for his courage during a recent attempt on his life.

Trump, in turn, praised Musk for his determination in firing workers who were asking for better conditions.

“You are the greatest cutter,” said Trump, referring to Musk’s ability to cut costs and lay off workers during a strike without hesitation.

Musk announced his support for Trump shortly after the assassination attempt. This despite the Republican’s stance against state subsidies to electric car manufacturers like Tesla.

This marks a change of course for Musk. He had supported the Democratic president Joe Biden in the 2020 elections, but since then he has shifted his support to the right.

“I think we are at a crossroads in the history of civilization, and I think we need to choose the right path. And I think you, Donald, are that path,” said Musk at the end of the interview, expressing his unwavering support.

In any case, the interview was seen as an attempt by Trump to reclaim the spotlight from the headlines captured by his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris has recently galvanized the Democratic Party with her late entry into the presidential race, replacing Biden as the candidate.

Interestingly, during the interview, many listeners noticed that Trump seemed to have a slight speech impediment, a detail that sparked comments on X.

The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment on this aspect, fueling further speculation.

The return of Trump on X

The interview on Monday also marked the return of Trump on X, previously known as Twitter, with a series of posts. Thus reactivating an account that had played a crucial role in his previous campaigns and during his four years in the White House.

Trump had been suspended from the platform after the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol. However, access to his account was restored a month after Musk had acquired ownership of X.

Trump continues to actively post on Truth Social, his platform launched in February 2022, even though his posts reach a much smaller audience compared to X.

Musk, who has often amplified Trump’s false claims regarding electoral fraud and Biden’s immigration policies, has launched an external spending group to support Trump’s campaign.

An action that is now under investigation in Michigan for possible violations of state laws regarding the collection of voter information.
