An Argentine lawyer has requested an international arrest warrant for Hayden Davis, founder of the cryptocurrency scam LIBRA. The news, reported by the Argentine newspaper Página 12, highlights the legal and procedural risks related to the Davis case, emphasizing the possibility that his financial resources may allow him to remain hidden.

Interpol’s request: legal action for the capture of Davis, founder of the memecoin scam LIBRA

The lawyer Gregorio Dalbón has filed a request with the Argentine courts to obtain an international arrest warrant against Hayden Davis, a US citizen, and for the issuance of a red notice by Interpol. This legal tool allows for the localization and arrest of individuals wanted internationally, facilitating their extradition.

The cryptocurrency LIBRA had reached a market capitalization of 4.4 billion dollars before experiencing a drastic drop of over 95% last month. This caused considerable losses for investors, estimated at 251 million dollars, according to an analysis conducted by Nansen.

The role of the Argentine President Javier Milei in the LIBRA case

The LIBRA project had attracted more attention after being publicly promoted by the Argentinian president Javier Milei in a tweet that was later deleted.

However, Milei subsequently distanced himself from the cryptocurrency, stating that he did not know all the details of the project at the time of the promotion. After delving deeper into the matter, the president stated that he had decided not to continue spreading information about LIBRA.

The legal and financial implications

The Hayden Davis case raises crucial questions about cryptocurrency regulation and investor protection. The cryptocurrency market continues to be highly volatile and lacking centralized controls, making these situations increasingly frequent.

The potential arrest and extradition of Davis could represent an important precedent for the sector. International authorities are indeed intensifying oversight on unregulated financial projects that can cause billion-dollar losses to savers.

Conclusion

The evolution of the case of Hayden Davis and the cryptocurrency LIBRA will be crucial in assessing the effectiveness of legal actions against potential fraud in the cryptocurrency world. The request for an Interpol red notice marks an important turning point in the attempt to capture Davis and shed light on the events that led to the collapse of the cryptocurrency.
