After the enormous successes achieved by Nvidia, it is now Apple’s turn to ride the AI technology trend with the new 24-inch iMac.

Apple vs. Nvidia: the challenge in the field of AI technology

Apple yesterday introduced a new desktop, the 24-inch iMac, with an M4 processor focused specifically on AI.

Nvidia as of today remains the largest producer of microprocessors for AI, but with this move, Apple launches an almost direct challenge.

The challenge indeed concerns the microprocessor market, even if in the case of Apple it is aimed at consumer users, while in the case of Nvidia it is directed mainly at companies.

The two companies also compete on the stock exchange.

They are in fact the only two companies in the world to exceed 3.4 trillion dollars in market capitalization, with Apple also exceeding 3.5.

There are those who claim that during 2025 Apple could become the first company in the world to surpass 4,000 billion.

Note that the third company in the world to surpass 3 trillion dollars in market capitalization, Microsoft, is still a tech company somehow linked to AI.

The fourth, Google, barely surpasses 2,000 billion, and it is still partly tied to AI.

The performance on the Stock Exchange of AAPL and NVDA shares

What is most surprising, however, is the stock market trend over the past few years, particularly regarding the NVDA stock of Nvidia.

For example, at the beginning of 2024, the price of its shares was below $50, while now it is above $140. Moreover, at the beginning of 2023, it was below $15, so in less than two years, it has almost tenfolded.

The AAPL stock of Apple, on the other hand, at the beginning of 2024 was below $190, and at the beginning of 2023 it was at $130. Now, however, it is above $230, so since the beginning of 2023, in percentage terms, it has risen much less.

Both stocks are currently close to their all-time highs, recorded a few days ago, and if the AI trend in the stock market continues, they could reach new highs throughout 2025.

The trend of AI

It should be remembered that the trend of AI is not just a passing fad of the moment, but an innovation of global significance that is destined to endure over time.

Until a couple of years ago, the development of artificial intelligence was still very limited, but with the boom of ChatGPT, the phenomenon has exploded.

Suddenly, what was a technology still distant from the average citizen has become accessible to everyone, thus opening the doors to its mass adoption.

The fact is that it still has a long way to go, and the markets are betting precisely on this.

Just consider that Nvidia has an annual revenue of 60 billion dollars, and an operating profit of 30 billion, but it capitalizes more than 3,400 billion dollars.

It is evident that such a capitalization not only reflects the level of revenue and profits achieved so far, but already anticipates their further takeoff.

In the span of two years, the company’s revenue has more than doubled, and compared to five years ago, it has almost tenfolded. The markets are effectively betting on an extension of this bull trend for several more years.

AI Technology: Apple challenges Nvidia with the new 24-inch iMAC

At this point, it is even expected that Apple has also jumped into AI.

In fact, it has created an entire dedicated internal division, called Apple Intelligence, and has started working on the development of new features related to artificial intelligence for its products.

His iMac is one of his classic products, a computer that now appears profoundly renewed thanks to the new powerful M4 chip that integrates Apple’s artificial intelligence.

The aesthetic style has remained the same, but the technology it is based on has been enhanced.

The new Apple M4 processor is up to 1.7 times faster in daily tasks and up to 2.1 times quicker in demanding workloads, such as photo editing and gaming.

Furthermore, its Neural Engine is 3 times faster compared to the previous model, and it is precisely this that makes the new iMac particularly suitable for bull applications of artificial intelligence.
